I have been working on real work. This has resulted in little to no work taking place on my online future. This doesn’t make me a happy man, but it does make me a paid one, and a fed one. And a fat one.
In the meantime I’ve been working on the equipment that I’m going to use to user in this domination (while reading this you can read “working” and substitute “fill in so I can write about something” if you will, although some of it will be interesting to the type of people who like to use their gadgets and gizmos in a different manor).
My iPhone is very important to me, because I have terrible attention span issues. If I don’t have the iPhone with me, then I feel a bit weird. I can’t walk from the car to the apartment without listening to some podcast or another. Seriously, this is a problem. I like the phone part because I can ignore your calls while I’m listening to some yahoo talk about something unimportant.
I watch a lot of videos on it as well. Frustratingly I do this while walking, which annoys some people (I’m not sure why because I’m 6’6” and 120kgs, so there is whole lot of me to see walking towards you. If you can’t get out of the way, better hope you’re 130kgs…). This creates some problems, because my phone only has 8gbs of energy. I mean memory, but it’s the same to me.
To combat this I came up with my own little system of playlists of awesomeness.
Album Favourites
I plonk my favourite albums with me here. I never know when I’m going to need to listen to some Bloc Party, or possibly some Flight of the Conchords. Needless to say I change this often because I have that whole attention thing…
And now I’ve forgotten what I was talking about. Oh yeah.
New Albums
When I buy new stuff, which I am prone to do, I put it here. I usually delete it when I’ve listened to it enough times to rate the tracks in iTunes (I may have mentioned this before, but I am a metadata freak. Sometimes stuff from here migrates over to the album favourites. It’s usually these that get deleted from there when I get bored of them.
iPhone Videos
The latest single episode of whatever shows I’m watching at the time. Also a bunch of old Doctor Who episodes, as I’m working my way through them again. This is cure for my attention thing. I always have time for the good Doctor.
What really keeps me going on this thing is the podcasts. I loves me some podcasts, and usually decimate my bandwidth with them. Decimate is a good word actually, as it actually does take 10% of the fricken bandwidth.
I’m bored of talking about this now.

Tube
So I was just looking at my youTube account (http://www.youtube.com/user/Kittengrr) and I noticed that one of my videos has 34,299 views, and 113 comments!
Wow. People care about Pantera. A lot.

Food
It’s been a while. This place is pretty sparse. That’s because I’m busy elsewhere doing real life stuff. Never fear! I have something irrelevant to say on the plan to take over the web!
I have been cooking!
So far I have cooked some awesome, awesome, awesome food. Three days in a row I have gathered foodstuffs in from the terrible cold that is the tyranny of the fridge, and the dark loneliness of the cupboard.
Delicately, and tenderly I have eviscerated the shallot, onions, garlic, onion, et al. and generated some of the most awesome food this world has ever seen.
I have then put these ingredients in the shit, experiencing the living hell that is my wok of dhoom. It was a thing of beauty.
So far I have redefined Spaghetti Bolognaise (Chilli! Olives! You sir, are a maniac), invented the pelmeni soup (Pelmeni and bok choy should not mix! It’s unnatural) and destroyed the new red, red wine carbonara (that vintage, with those mushrooms?).
More to follow.

Back
So it’s been a while since the last post. Sorry, but real life got in the way.
I need to post once a day to keep the momentum of this place happening, which clearly isn’t happening at the moment. Usually I’d give up, but… not this time.
I was feeling a touch depressed about all of it, when I found this:
http://www.lamachine.co.uk/
There is going to be another Elephant. Remember this?

It was the most awesome thing I’ve ever beheld. So I felt all inspired. Then I remembered that I’m going to be here (Australia) and it’s going to be there (UK). Oh well.
However there was enough inspiration to help me get a few things together. Namely, new hosting: vpsFarm. Now all I have to do is figure out what I’m going to put where, when it’ll be live, and how the hell I’m going to do it…

No drowning

Many of you would have seen the absence of posting on my behalf as another pattern re-establishing itself. You’d be right, but for the wrong reason. I did not write for the last few days because I was away in the mountains having a much-deserved break. So the pattern there is no internet or mobile signal = no posting, rather than writer is lazy = no posting.
While I was away, I thought many, many deep thoughts. Most of them were about killing all the myriad of ideas that I had for my online presence. So this is what I did when I got home. I killed a lot of half started projects.
I think a good project should run itself. If you don’t have the energy to complete something, then it’s probably not worth doing. Just like if a job is worth doing, it’s worth hiring a professional; this is not an option here, and I have no idea why I wrote it down. I think I may be slowly loosing my mind.
I have started on the great web redesign project with a great technology re-org at home. To assist in this I produced a crazy diagram to try to figure out what connects where, and how things should work. I got bored after a while, and now I realise I didn’t include the DS or PSP.
It’s very pretty. I like Visio, it gives me an enormous sense of wellbeing.
How does this link into any other work I’m doing? Well, it does have some vague relevance on what the front page will look like. Oh yes. Content: yes, graphic designer: no.

Photos
It’s questionable, this desire to put thing up in the public domain, but I have been known to be pretty questionable at times…
Today I finally got round to playing with our new camera. It certainly takes photos. We opted for DSC-T300 and I picked it up while I was in the UK over the last few weeks. Ah! What comedy that was.
For the company I ordered it from did not deliver it, and I had to get one from the airport. I had to get one because I spanked a lot of cash on accessories (I get excited about things like this). I am also yet to get the money back for the camera that never was.
Yes, not only that but Sony have gone and release new, faster, better cameras just after I laid down the green.
Fuckers.
However, this is about the internet and photos and stuff. Today I started a picasa account, and looked through my flickr account, seeing all the work I had to do to get things up to date there. I’m also seriously considering playing with windows live things.
Because I am going to spread the disease that is my web content everywhere. Oh yes.

A plan
I’ve been absent from providing any meaningful content to the internet for some time… and by sometime I mean over a year. I know this because I remember thinking about various cunning plans revolving around a festival I was at a year ago last weekend.
A whole year.
That’s a year lost to stupid mySQL issues, terrible space related problems, and crazy scripts, annoying outages and most importantly no writing of the words.
The words are what it’s all about for me. I still harbor this crazy notion of writing things down and people enjoying the reading of them. I contemplate this notion often, so often that I forget to actually do, you know, the writing. That’s what this is about, well it’s sort of what it’s about.
I’m consolidating, moving, and setting up my web presence in order to move towards something… new. Something more. While I’m trying to pull this together, I’m going to write about my efforts, and a few other things, here.
Enjoy.
